Op Ed on Shelter Work in Sonoma County →

No-Kill is possible.  It’s being done in some places, but prevention seems to be key.  I’m of the opinion that not enough prevention is being done.  I admit it.  I don’t want to work in shelter medicine.  I’m one of those people that couldn’t handle it.  I know it exists, but it is simply too sad for me to think about on a daily basis. Does that make me selfish?  Maybe.  I can’t imagine what it would be like to have to choose to end the life of a completely healthy animal. Who gets to live? For those that are genuinely suffering, I have no problem.  It doesn’t make me sad.  I don’t think about every animal that I’ve ever euthanized because I know it was in the best interest of the animal.  This is not.  It’s different.

Life is a journey. How we travel is really up to us. We can just flow with the tide or follow our own dreams.

I’m sure it would be good with any kind of beans.  I used white ones.
